About the role
About Us
At Bankstown Sports Club, we're passionate about creating exceptional experiences for our members, guests, community partners and corporate clients.
As one of Australia's largest and most progressive registered clubs, we deliver a diverse calendar of events each year, including corporate functions, conferences, gala dinners, awards nights, school formals, business networking events, community celebrations, charity fundraisers, sporting presentations and special events.
We're now seeking an experienced Events Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave contract and lead our talented Events team through an exciting and varied events program.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Events Department and oversee the successful planning, coordination and delivery of events across the Bankstown Sports Club Group.
Leading a team of 5-7 people, including the Events Operations Manager, Events Sales Manager, Event Coordinators and Event Team Leaders, you'll drive operational excellence, exceptional customer experiences and strong commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing Events team
Managing multiple events simultaneously across a diverse portfolio
Building strong relationships with clients, local schools, business partners, community organisations and suppliers
Overseeing event logistics, operations, budgets and service delivery
Working collaboratively with Marketing, Operations, Audio Visual, Security and Venue teams
Driving continuous improvement, innovation and operational efficiencies
Ensuring event spaces meet the highest standards of presentation, safety and compliance
Attending key events to ensure exceptional execution and customer experiences
As many events take place outside standard business hours, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays is essential. You will play a visible leadership role at major and high-profile events, providing operational oversight and support when it matters most.
About You
You're a passionate and organised events leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves creating memorable experiences.
To be successful, you'll have:
Previous experience in an Events Manager, Functions Manager or similar leadership role
Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
Strong operational, stakeholder management and customer service skills
Experience managing complex events, competing priorities and tight deadlines
Sound financial management, budgeting and cost-control experience
Exceptional communication, planning and problem-solving skills
Current RSA & RCG certification (or willing to obtain)
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
Desirable
Experience within a large hospitality, club, venue or events environment
Qualifications in Event Management, Hospitality, Business or a related discipline
Knowledge of WHS requirements and operational compliance
Why Join Us?
Lead a diverse portfolio of corporate, community and special events
Manage a passionate and experienced Events team
Build relationships with local schools, businesses and community partners
Work within one of Sydney's leading hospitality and entertainment destinations
Join an organisation that values community, innovation and exceptional experiences
Generous daily manager meal allowance across our venues
Free secure parking plus discounted car washes
Employee rewards and recognition programs
If you're a dynamic events leader looking for an exciting 12-month opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
