Heavy Rigid Driver

About the role

Freight Mart International is seeking a Heavy Rigid Driver to join our transport operations team on a casual basis. Based in Bibra Lake, Western Australia, this role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of freight across our service network. As a Heavy Rigid Driver, you will operate heavy vehicles to transport goods efficiently whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism and customer service. This position offers flexibility with casual work arrangements, making it ideal for drivers seeking variable hours and scheduling options.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy rigid vehicles safely and professionally in accordance with all relevant road transport legislation and company policies

• Transport freight loads to designated destinations within scheduled timeframes

• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues or defects

• Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery documentation and vehicle maintenance records

• Ensure cargo is properly secured and loaded in compliance with weight distribution regulations

• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers and other team members regarding route updates and delivery status

• Maintain a clean and professional appearance and conduct at all times

• Contribute to a positive workplace culture and support team objectives

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence

• Excellent driving record with a strong commitment to road safety

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately

• Physical fitness to perform the demands of the role, including vehicle operation and basic cargo handling

• Reliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to accommodate casual work scheduling

• Proficiency with basic digital systems for logbooks and delivery tracking

• Experience with Pallet Jack and Tail Lift is desirable
