Early Childhood Service -Cook

At Kin Early Education Healesville, we believe that healthy food is an essential part of every child's learning, wellbeing and development. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Casual Cook to join our warm and welcoming team in Healesville.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, nutritious meals that support children's growth while becoming a valued member of a collaborative early childhood community.

As our Centre Cook, you will take pride in planning and preparing delicious, well-balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of young children. Working closely with our educators, you will help create positive mealtime experiences while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning, preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for children aged 0–5 years.

• Catering for allergies, cultural requirements and individual dietary needs.

• Ensuring menus align with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and relevant nutrition recommendations for early childhood.

• Maintaining a clean, organised and compliant kitchen that meets all food safety and hygiene requirements.

• Ordering food supplies, monitoring stock levels and minimising waste.

• Working collaboratively with educators and families to support children's wellbeing and healthy eating habits.

• Contributing ideas for seasonal menus that encourage children to explore a wide variety of nutritious foods.

You are someone who enjoys making a positive difference through food and understands the important role nutrition plays in children's learning and development.

Ideally you will have:

• Qualifications in Commercial Cookery, Food Services or Catering, or equivalent industry experience.

• Previous experience working in an early childhood education setting (preferred but not essential).

• Knowledge of food safety legislation, hygiene practices and nutrition requirements for young children.

• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

• Excellent organisation and time management skills.

• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.

• A genuine passion for preparing healthy, enjoyable meals for children.
