Legal Counsel

You'll love this role if you're a lawyer who enjoys being close to the business, not sitting on the sidelines. In this role, you'll work with leaders and teams across Youi to help them navigate legal risk, make informed decisions and help deliver better outcomes for customers.

As Legal Counsel, you'll partner with stakeholders across operations, product, marketing, claims and other business areas, providing practical, commercially focused advice on a diverse range of legal, regulatory and strategic matters.

One day you might be negotiating a key commercial agreement, advising on regulatory obligations or reviewing customer-facing communications. The next, you could be supporting a business initiative, helping navigate legislative change or working with leaders to resolve an operational issue.

The role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys learning how a business works, building strong stakeholder relationships and finding practical solutions to complex challenges. You'll join a collaborative legal team that values curiosity, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, while providing the support and autonomy to grow your career.

Please note - this role requires one day per fortnight in our head office located in Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast.

What you'll be doing

• Providing practical and commercially focused legal advice across the business, with a strong focus on insurance, financial services and operational matters
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements balancing legal risk with practical business outcomes.
• Advising on legal and regulatory obligations including the Corporations Act, Insurance Contracts Act and General Insurance Code of Practice
• Partnering with stakeholders to identify risks, solve problems and support effective decision-making
• Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and translating them into actionable business guidance
• Delivering legal training and contributing to capability-building initiatives across the organisation
• Managing relationships with external legal advisers where specialist advice is required
