Case Manager, Domestic & Family Violence - Male Victims

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver coordinated case management services, supporting clients through engagement, screening, needs assessment, safety planning, and referrals to appropriate internal and external support services.

The role is focused on supporting male victim-survivors of Domestic and Family Violence through the Safer Pathways program. Your proven case management experience, together with your ability to effectively manage high-conflict and complex situations, will be critical to success.

Based primarily in our Caringbah office, this position provides support to clients across a range of locations, including Ryde, North Sydney, Nepean, Blue Mountains, St George, and Sutherland. Attendance at Safety Action Meetings within the St George and Sutherland regions is also required.

This is a Permanent Part-time position, working 54 hours per fortnight.

The hourly rate is in line with a SCHADS Award Level 5, with a rate of $57.72 per hour, plus superannuation.

Key Duties will include, however not limited to: 

• Provide case coordination in accordance with the relevant guidelines, procedures and processes:

   - Liaise with the Police for additional contact information or to discuss changes of risk rating

   - Prepare case file notes and quarterly reports for all victims supported according to the template that will be provided by Victims Services and record these in the specific database

   - Represent male victim(s) at “Serious Threat” at Safety Action Meetings (SAMs) as required, and follow up with the male victim and discuss any safety action plan developed

• Undertake intake assessment with clients to:

  - assess suitability for services

  - assess the person’s / family’s needs

  - assess risks (including suicide risk) and develop action plans to mitigate risks

  - assist clients to develop their own goals and case/service plan

  - make appropriate internal and external referrals

• Monitor progress and the changing needs of the client while they are waiting for and receiving Interrelate services
• Provide case management and/or brief interventions to a caseload of clients

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, community welfare, counselling, psychology related discipline, or a Graduate Diploma in counselling, community service or equivalent in addition to holding a bachelor’s degree that is not a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in case management, case coordination and conflict management
• Experience providing advocacy, support, and referral services to victim-survivors of Domestic and Family Violence
• Experience working with victim survivors of Domestic Family Violence, including assessment, safety planning, case management, and referral pathways
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying child-focused practice when working with families, including an understanding of child development and the effects of family and domestic violence on children's safety, wellbeing and development
• Ability to liaise with the community and build local networks including family law specialist and magistrates along with experience in dealing with the Family Law System
• The ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure positive outcomes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
