About the Role
Southern Pacific Sands is a leading supplier of quality washed silica sand, bio-retention filtration media, soil products, and ready-mixed concrete, servicing Brisbane and Southeast Queensland.
We are currently seeking a motivated and proactive WHS Officer to join our team and support our WHS Supervisor across our operations.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working autonomously, enjoys engaging with people across the business, and is looking to further develop their career in Workplace Health & Safety.
You will provide practical, visible, and proactive WHS support across our Ningi and Caloundra sites, assisting with workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk management, incident investigations, safety documentation, training, audits, and the ongoing improvement of our safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and support a positive safety-first culture across employees, contractors, and visitors.
Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and follow up corrective actions.
Provide practical WHS support and guidance to employees and operational teams.
Assist with risk assessments, SWMS, JSA, SOPs, permits, and other safety documentation.
Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, reporting and corrective actions.
Assist with inductions, toolbox talks, training, WHS audits and compliance activities.
Maintain WHS documentation, registers, and records, including workplace health monitoring.
Engage with employees and management to identify safety improvements and escalate significant WHS risks or issues to the WHS Supervisor.
What We’re Looking For
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety and demonstrated experience in a WHS/Safety role.
Current Australian Manual Driver Licence.
Practical understanding of WHS principles, risk management and safety requirements.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a confident and approachable manner.
Self-motivated, organised and solutions-focused, with the ability to work independently.
Ability to engage with employees at all levels, identify safety improvements and confidently escalate issues when required.
Highly Desirable
Construction White Card.
Experience in quarry, mining, civil construction, concrete or transport environments.
Experience with incident investigations, workplace inspections and risk assessments.
Experience working within management systems.
Experience or qualifications in the inspection and maintenance of firefighting equipment.
