Draftsperson/Design Coordinator

Todd Devine Homes is looking for a highly organised, proactive and solutions-focused Draftsperson/Design Coordinator to join our growing Design & Drafting team.

This role is ideal for an experienced residential drafting professional who enjoys more than simply producing drawings. You'll play a key role in translating concepts into practical, buildable solutions while coordinating information across design, estimating, sales and construction teams.

You'll work closely with our Development & Design Manager, Estimating, Sales, Construction teams and external consultants to ensure projects are documented accurately, efficiently and ready to progress through approvals and into construction.

About the role

As our Draftsperson/Design Coordinator, you'll take ownership of project documentation from concept design through to construction-ready drawings.

Your role will include:

• Preparing and maintaining residential working drawings and construction documentation

• Developing buildable drafting solutions for custom homes, modular housing and Small Second Dwellings

• Producing sales, permit, tender and construction documentation packages

• Modifying and adapting standard plans to suit client requirements, site constraints and project objectives

• Coordinating and incorporating information from engineers, surveyors, energy assessors and other consultants

• Preparing and managing documentation required for planning, building permits and approvals

• Reviewing plans for compliance with the NCC, Victorian Building Regulations and relevant planning requirements

• Assisting with ResCode and planning-related documentation where required

• Working closely with Estimating to ensure documentation aligns with project scope and budgets

• Liaising with Sales and Pre-Construction teams to resolve design, compliance and constructability queries

• Managing drawing revisions and maintaining accurate project documentation records

• Updating project information and documentation within ClickHome and related systems

• Identifying design clashes, construction risks and documentation issues before they impact delivery

• Supporting continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates and documentation processes

• Contributing ideas and solutions that improve efficiency, buildability and customer outcomes

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical drafting capability with practical thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working within a custom residential building environment

• Strong proficiency in Revit, with AutoCAD experience also regarded

• A solid understanding of residential construction methods and building systems

• Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Victorian Building Regulations and residential design requirements

• Experience preparing working drawings, permit documentation and construction documentation

• Confidence coordinating consultant information and resolving documentation issues

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate documentation

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• The ability to identify problems, think critically and develop practical solutions

• Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams, consultants and stakeholders

• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute across different areas of the business

• A genuine desire to learn, improve and grow with the company

Experience with modular, prefabricated or off-site construction methods would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
