Draftsperson / Building Designer

Our services provided to our clients include new residential design projects and professional drafting for existing structures, pools, and other detailed projects. About you…

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both residential design and detailed drafting. You will be responsible to initiate, develop and deliver on a variety of projects and initiatives related to building design and comprehensive drafting services for our clients.

You have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support your role.

You understand the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards to support the business.

​Key Responsibilities:

• ​Prepare detailed architectural drawings and documentation using Autodesk Revit, for both new residential design and small drafting projects. 

• ​Work closely with team and/or clients to develop and refine design concepts for new projects.

• ​Accurately document existing conditions and prepare detailed plans for renovations, residential additions, New builds and existing structure approvals.

• Attend site inspections to measure and document existing structure and conditions.

• ​Collaborate with clients, builders, and consultants across our industry to ensure project success and best practice approaches.

• ​Assist with the preparation of Council submission drawings and documentation.

• ​Continue to build and maintain a deep understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards to ensure all projects are compliant.

​Required experience:

• ​Autodesk Revit: Demonstrated strong proficiency and experience in using Revit for both residential design and drafting is essential.

• ​Residential Drafting & Design: A proven track record of working on a mix of residential projects. (2+ years in a similar role is desirable).

• ​Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC): A strong and current understanding of the NCC is essential for this role.

You’ll be a top candidate for this role with…

• ​Certificate IV in Building Design and Drafting or a similar relevant qualification.

• ​Experience with other software such as Enscape.

• ​Knowledge of the Canberra planning and development regulations and process.
