Chef/Cook

Mitta Pub is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements, while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency. You will also ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and developing menus in consultation with management, taking into account customer preferences, seasonal availability, market trends, and budget requirements.
• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications, and company standards.
• Monitoring and maintaining the quality of food throughout all stages of preparation, cooking, presentation, and service.
• Supervising food preparation activities to ensure consistency, freshness, quality, and compliance with food safety standards.
• Estimating food and labour costs, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Ordering, receiving, rotating, and maintaining stock levels of food supplies and kitchen equipment while minimising wastage.
• Conducting stocktakes and maintaining accurate inventory records, reporting any shortages or issues to management.
• Monitoring portion control and implementing effective waste management practices.
• Liaising with managers, kitchen staff, and other relevant personnel to resolve food preparation and operational issues.
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation procedures and presentation standards.

About you

• A genuine passion for cooking and creativity.
• Trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery).
• At least 2-3 years' experience as a Chef in a busy kitchen.
• Thorough understanding of food safety standards and HACCP.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to lead and demonstrate passion for cooking

Pay: $80,000.00 – $86,506.18 per year
