About the role
The Renewable Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuels team leads a work program to develop Victoria’s emerging renewable fuels sector including hydrogen, biomethane, sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, biodiesel, green methanol and green ammonia.
As Victoria accelerates the decarbonisation of electricity, the role will support the next phase of the energy transition, requiring emissions reduction across the broader energy system. Renewable fuels will be central to this effort, particularly in sectors where electrification alone is not possible. Building a renewable fuels sector in Victoria presents an opportunity to decarbonise, reduce reliance on imported fuels to strengthen energy security, and leverage the state’s established fuel production capability and strong agricultural base to drive investment, regional development and economic growth.
The Project Officer will support policy and program work to accelerate Victoria’s renewable fuel industry through government-led initiatives. The role includes working closely with a range of other areas across government and external industry, research and community stakeholders.
The team also prioritises the adoption of innovative tools and agile work practices to advance Victoria’s renewable fuels sector and drive the state’s transition to a more secure and sustainable energy future.
