About the role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Practice Assistant to join our Melbourne M&A Competition team, providing dedicated support to Partner, Simon Cooke and his team.

You'll be joining a friendly, down-to-earth team led by a highly regarded Partner who values collaboration, trust and professional development.

Working closely with two other Practice Assistants, you'll play an integral role in the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but won’t be limited to:

• Managing diaries and coordinating internal and external meetings
• Organising domestic and international travel arrangements
• Overseeing billing processes, expenses and related reporting
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client and contact lists
• File opening/closing, archiving, and maintaining electronic and physical records
• Assisting with a wide range of administrative tasks to support day‑to‑day operations

About You

• Minimum of 2 years in a legal support role (such as Legal Assistant, Practice Assistant, Legal Executive or Legal Secretary)
• Sound knowledge of the monthly billing process in a legal environment - experience with Elite highly regarded
• Advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to analyse, problem solve and apply appropriate use of judgement
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, choosing an appropriate style for their audience
• Well-developed interpersonal skills
