Senior Accountant

About the role

You'll manage a diverse portfolio of clients while providing high-quality accounting, taxation, compliance and advisory services across a range of industries. Working closely with the Directors and leadership team, you'll review work completed by junior accountants, provide technical guidance, and play an important role in improving client outcomes and driving continuous improvement within the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of business and individual clients across multiple industries.

• Preparing and reviewing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).

• Preparing and reviewing BAS, IAS, PAYG, STP and TPAR obligations.

• Providing taxation advice, business insights and practical solutions.

• Preparing management reports, budgets, cash flow forecasts and KPI reporting.

• Liaising directly with clients, the ATO, ASIC and other regulatory bodies.

• Reviewing work prepared by junior accountants and offshore team members.

• Coaching and mentoring junior staff.

• Identifying opportunities to improve client outcomes and internal processes.

• Supporting workflow management and embracing technology-driven improvements.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Australian Public Practice.

• Strong experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns.

• Excellent knowledge of Australian taxation legislation.

• Experience managing multiple client relationships.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with cloud accounting software.
