The Opportunity

Play a key role in supporting Noosa Council's financial sustainability and delivering important services to our community. As Rates Coordinator, you'll lead a small, dedicated team and oversee Council's rating, property revenue and debtor functions, ensuring compliance, financial integrity and excellent customer outcomes. Working closely with a range of stakeholders, you'll provide specialist advice, drive continuous improvement and help shape efficient, customer-focused revenue services in an organisation committed to making Noosa a great place to live, work and visit.

• $121,071 Base annual salary
• $137,425 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You are an experienced revenue professional with strong knowledge of local government rating, property revenue and debtor administration. You combine sound legislative and financial expertise with proven leadership and stakeholder management skills. Highly organised and solutions-focused, you thrive in a customer-focused environment, driving continuous improvement while maintaining strong governance, compliance and service standards. You are passionate about delivering positive outcomes for the community and supporting a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Council's rates team by coordinating resources, developing capability and fostering a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
• Coordinate rating, property revenue and debtor services to ensure accurate administration, statutory compliance and strong financial governance.
• Provide specialist advice and stakeholder support on rating, revenue and debt management matters, building productive relationships across Council and the community.
• Drive continuous improvement by enhancing systems, processes and controls to improve service delivery, data integrity and operational efficiency.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in local government rating, property revenue and debtor administration.
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to develop and support a high-performing team.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance requirements and financial governance principles.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical solutions in a complex environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on customer service and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Training and Licences

Essential

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, Public Administration, Local Government or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive relevant experience.
• Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence

Desirable

• Membership of, or eligibility for membership with, a relevant professional body such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
• Experience using local government rating and finance systems such as TechnologyOne, Civica, Authority, Pathway, MagiQ or similar platforms.
