About the Role
Danila Dilba is seeking an experienced and highly organised Policy Officer Governance & Compliance to support the completion of its organisation-wide policy review program. The Policy Officer will review, update and develop policies and procedures to ensure alignment with DDHS’s policy framework, organisational systems and processes, legislative and regulatory requirements, accreditation standards and contemporary practice. Working across corporate and service delivery areas, the successful candidate will strengthen policy governance and compliance, with particular focus on requirements arising from the Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Rules 2025, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, National Safety and Quality Mental Health Standards for Community Managed Organisations (2022), and other relevant frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
As the Policy Officer -Governance & Compliance you will work collaboratively with managers, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to support the completion of DDHS's policy review program and ensure policies reflect updated frameworks, systems, quality requirements and best practice service delivery.
Review existing DDHS policies, procedures, guidelines and associated documents against current organisational requirements, legislation, standards and regulatory obligations.
Conduct gap analyses to identify policy amendments required to meet legislative, accreditation and operational requirements.
Update and revise policy documents using approved DDHS templates and document control processes.
Draft new policies, procedures and guidance documents where identified gaps exist.
Support the implementation of governance and compliance initiatives through the review and updating of organisational policy documentation.
Interpret legislative, regulatory and accreditation requirements and translate these into policy and procedural requirements.
Contribute to activities supporting organisational compliance with: Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Rules 2025, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, National Safety and Quality Mental Health Standards for Community Managed Organisations (2022), Relevant Commonwealth and Northern Territory legislation
Monitor changes to legislation, standards and regulatory requirements relevant to DDHS operations and identify implications for policy updates
About You
Essential
Relevant tertiary qualification in policy, governance, health administration, business, law or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience reviewing, developing and updating policies and procedures in a regulated environment.
Ability to interpret legislation, standards and regulatory requirements and apply them to organisational policy.
Strong research, analytical and policy writing skills.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, consultation and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
Knowledge of governance, compliance and continuous improvement principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
Ability to work autonomously
