Primary objective
Support, facilitate and manage reform and specialist projects in adult correctional services to improve outcomes for offenders
and reduce recidivism, while working in a team environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake comprehensive, timely and quality research and advice and undertake analysis and reporting to support the
effective planning and delivery of projects, with a focus on continuous improvement.
2. Prepare high-level documents, businesses cases and scopes, reports, briefings and correspondence to a variety of audiences,
including executives.
3. Provide administrative support to colleagues as part of projects being undertaken by the team, committees, and advisory
groups, and provide leadership support to the senior management.
4. Support and advise potential project delivery risks and work with respective areas, internally and externally to the department,
to mitigate identified risks.
5. Provide contract administration for the development of project scopes of works and contract administration in the
management of externally funded projects.
6. Identify and provide recommendations for continuous improvements of the effective and efficient delivery of projects.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to encourage innovation to ensure
sustainable project solutions.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills with strong ability to work with limited direction, and
manage a workload, competing priorities and meet deadlines, with a result-oriented focus.
2. Proven ability to positively influence and contribute as an effective team member driving strategy and policy initiatives,
including change management processes.
3. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to
negotiate outcomes, including resolving potential conflicts in a constructive manner.
4. Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to communicate with a wide range of
audiences and prepare different communications (briefings, reports and memoranda).
5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management, planning and implementation, with research, conceptual
and analytical skills and the ability to support development of logical approaches and solutions.
6. Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying policy and legislation in an operational environment.
7. Demonstrated understanding of the context of service delivery in the Northern Territory and knowledge and understanding
of Aboriginal culture, family and community in the delivery of adult corrections, including formal cultural awareness training.
8. Demonstrated experience in procurement, contract administration and management, including grants and knowledge of
business management systems and processes relevant to government.
Desirable
1. Formal training in Project Management and/or research.
