Generalist Lawyer

Harris Carlson Lawyers are a boutique commercial law firm in the Melbourne CBD. Our practice areas include Commercial & Corporate, Property, Litigation, Bankruptcy & Insolvency, Employment and Wills & Estates.

We are looking for a generalist lawyer to join our team who can assist in all areas, with a focus on Commercial and Employment Law.

An ideal candidate will need:

·                   2+ years PAE

·                   a current practicing certificate

·                   a commercial and common-sense approach

·                   strong drafting skills, with accuracy and a high attention to detail

·                   an ability to service clients at a sophisticated level

·                   a desire to learn and expand your knowledge

·                   an ability to foster and develop client relationships and referral networks

·                   excellent time management skills

·                   to be reliable and dependable

·                   a pro-active mindset

·                   a friendly manner and a sense of humour

·                   an ability to work within a busy, friendly and close knit team

Main duties will include:

Supporting senior lawyers within the Commercial team, including assisting in sale/purchase of businesses, mergers and acquisitions and all general commercial law matters.

Supporting senior lawyers within the Employment team, including assisting in drafting and reviewing employment related documents, advising and representing clients on Fair Work Act claims and all general employment law matters.

Drafting documents for review by senior lawyers, including correspondence and advice to clients.

Assist in managing different client segments and their needs, ranging from simple to more complex high net worth individuals and companies.

Management and maintenance of commercial precedent documents.

Assisting other lawyers where needed in areas such as Property, Litigation, Bankruptcy & Insolvency and Wills & Estates.

Assist in client engagement and business development initiatives.
