Practice Nurse

About the role

Benalla Church Street Surgery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse with a passion for quality improvement to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy general practice providing essential patient care and support within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including wound dressing, injections, immunisations and blood pressure monitoring

• Assist with minor surgical procedures and clinical examinations as directed by medical practitioners

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with clinical governance standards

• Administer medications and manage patient medications as per practice protocols

• Provide patient education and health advice on preventative care and treatment options

• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic clinical environment adhering to infection prevention and control standards

• Assist in quality improvement projects

• Contribute to the smooth running of the practice through effective communication and teamwork

What we're looking for

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

• Demonstrated experience working in general practice or primary healthcare settings

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficiency in using practice management software and electronic health records

• A commitment to maintaining professional development and staying current with clinical best practice

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team

• Sound knowledge of infection control and workplace health and safety requirements

• Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, diabetes management, asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and emergency resuscitation techniques, equipment & drugs.
