Safety & Quality Specialist

Reporting To: Manager Safety Operations (under HO of HR & Workplace)
Position Overview
Airbus AP is seeking a driven Safety & Quality Specialist to join our team in Edinburgh.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing guidance, advice, and operational support to ensure safety and quality programs—including the Airbus Integrated Safety Management System (iSMS)—are effectively implemented. You will cover both occupational (people) and operational (aviation) safety and quality, serving as a trusted advisor to enable safety and quality excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
iSMS & Quality Implementation: Support the implementation, promotion, and coordination of the Integrated Safety Management System (iSMS) and ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).Audits & Compliance: Conduct internal QMS and SMS conformance audits across all Edinburgh work areas, perform assurance activities, and action Corrective Action Requests (CARs).Investigations & CAPA: Investigate non-conformances, safety incidents, and operational issues to establish robust Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions (CAPA).Airworthiness & Authorisations: Provide Airworthiness, Quality, and Safety support, deliver personnel inductions, and perform assessments for Company Authorisations.Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for quality and safety office queries, engage with external customers on safety/quality issues, and collaborate with regulatory and certification bodies.Strategy & Governance: Support bid developments with regulatory compliance advice, participate in procedure updates, and contribute to establish Management Objectives (MBOs).
Essential
Key Requirements
Experience: 3+ years in a safety role, including implementing, maintaining, and monitoring Safety Management Systems (SMS) and safety policies across multiple sites.Regulatory & System Knowledge: Strong understanding of Defence & Civil Aviation legislation, Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) systems, ISO 9001 QMS, and ICAO Annex 19 Safety Management principles.Technical Auditing & Investigation: Proven skills in process and product auditing relevant to held approvals, along with experience using recognised investigation methodologies.Qualifications: Certificate IV or higher in a Safety/Health discipline.Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all organisational levels; strong analytical, reporting, and MS Office capabilities; and a balanced, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
Desirable
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).Recognised auditing certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent).Defence Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) training.Knowledge of Defence Security Principles.
