Wood Machinist

Capital Veneering is seeking an experienced and motivated Wood Machinist to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and safety-focused individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating a range of woodworking machinery and hand tools to manufacture quality products while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will play a key role in maintaining production schedules, quality control standards, and a clean and organised machine shop.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

• Operating woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.

• Manufacturing products in accordance with production schedules and quality requirements.

• Operating CNC machinery, beam saws, panel saws, edgebanders, and associated equipment.

• Inspecting completed work to ensure all components meet quality standards and are free from defects.

• Ensuring all parts are correctly labelled and prepared before moving to the next stage of production.

• Performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections of machinery and equipment.

• Reporting machinery faults, breakdowns, hazards, or safety concerns promptly.

• Following all Workplace Health & Safety procedures and PPE requirements.

• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment.

• Assisting with waste management and general housekeeping duties.

• Working collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and project deadlines.

• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards of workmanship.

What We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

• Experience operating Biesse CNC machinery.

• Experience operating beam saws and panel saws.

• Experience operating edgebanders.

• Strong knowledge of woodworking processes, machinery, and materials.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• The ability to identify and solve problems effectively.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.

• The ability to work safely and follow established procedures.

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and safely lift materials with assistance when required.

Qualifications and Licences

Preferred qualifications and licences include:

• MSF30322 Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology (Wood Machining) or equivalent.

• Construction Industry White Card.

• Class C Driver's Licence

• High Risk Work Licence (Forklift).

• Current First Aid Certificate.
