ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking experienced Undermanager’s to provide frontline leadership and statutory oversight within our underground mining operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, compliant and efficient execution of production plans while supporting and developing operational teams.

These positions are permanent full time based at Tahmoor Mine, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Sydney and within easy commuting distance of Wollongong, the Macarthur region and surrounding communities.  

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you will act as the key escalation point for safety, compliance and operational performance on shift, ensuring statutory obligations are met and production targets are achieved safely.

We are looking for experienced Undermanager's to:  

• Lead and oversee underground shift activities to ensure compliance with legislation, mine standards and the Health and Safety Management System.

• Maintain accountability for the safe execution of shift plans and escalate operational impacts through established processes.

• Coordinate and manage operational responses to breakdowns and changing mine conditions.

• Chair pre-shift briefings, crew briefings and end-of-shift debriefs to ensure clear communication of safety, compliance and production expectations.

• Review statutory reports, compliance requirements and remedial actions to ensure completeness and follow-up of outstanding issues.

• Monitor the status of mine infrastructure, mine workings and underground environmental conditions.

• Act as the central point of accountability for safety and compliance on shift, including directing work to cease when required standards are not met.

• Ensure production teams operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with legislative and site requirements.

• Coach, mentor and develop Deputies and frontline leaders.

Weekday & Weekend Day/Afternoon/Night shift rosters are available.  

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate of competence to be an Undermanager at an underground coal mine. 

• Practicing certificate as an Undermanager 

• Extensive underground coal mining experience.

• Strong understanding of NSW mining legislation and statutory obligations.

• Proven leadership experience in underground operations.

• Ability to make sound decisions in dynamic operational environments.

• Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.

• Commitment to safety leadership and visible leadership behaviours.

• Ability to coach, mentor and develop operational teams.
