After successfully leading Wharf One Food & Wine, our current Head Chef is progressing into a broader culinary leadership role within our growing hospitality group.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Head Chef who wants to lead a successful kitchen while helping us create its next chapter.

Someone who understands what customers want today but is equally interested in what they'll want tomorrow.

We want a chef who follows what's happening in the industry, recognises emerging trends, brings ideas to the table and isn't afraid to ask:

"How can we make this even better?"

You'll have genuine input into the direction of the food offering, kitchen operations, team development and the continued evolution of Wharf One.

You'll also work alongside our existing Head Chef as they transition into their broader group role, giving you continuity and senior culinary support while allowing you to establish your own leadership style.

Your role is to lead them, develop them and bring out their best while continuing to build a kitchen culture based on professionalism, respect, accountability and teamwork.

What You'll Own

As Head Chef, you'll take responsibility for the performance and direction of the Wharf One kitchen, including:

• Leading, mentoring and developing the kitchen team
• Driving consistency, quality and efficient service
• Overseeing busy à la carte operations
• Leading culinary delivery across our extensive functions and events business
• Bringing fresh ideas and responding to changing customer and food trends
• Continuously improving kitchen systems and efficiencies
• Managing food costs, labour, ordering, stock and suppliers
• Recruiting and developing future kitchen leaders
• Maintaining food safety, WHS and compliance standards
• Working closely with venue management, ownership and our broader culinary leadership team

Who Are We Looking For?

You're an experienced Head Chef who still gets excited about hospitality.

You're confident enough to lead from the front but collaborative enough to listen.

You enjoy developing people, solving problems and building a strong culture.

You understand the commercial side of running a kitchen and know that successful restaurants require great food, great people, consistency and an understanding of the customer.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Proven Head Chef experience in a busy Australian restaurant environment
• Strong leadership and people-development skills
• High-volume à la carte experience
• Functions and events experience
• Strong food and labour cost management
• Commercial awareness and a solutions-focused mindset
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Commercial Cookery qualifications
• A genuine desire to improve, innovate and grow
