Ward Clerk

About the role

We are seeking a friendly, organised and reliable Ward Clerk to join our Ward team on a full-time, fixed-term basis, providing maternity leave cover from September 2026 to September 2027.

The Ward Clerk will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the ward, working closely with patients, families, nursing staff, allied health professionals and medical teams to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, a professional and compassionate approach, and the ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment.

Previous hospital or healthcare administration experience is desirable; however, we welcome applications from candidates who demonstrate the right skills, attitude and commitment to providing excellent patient and team support.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and enquiries
• Provide timely information to staff and departments
• Support patient admissions, discharges and documentation
• Maintain patient admission papers and clinical records
• Work collaboratively with patients, visitors and the multidisciplinary team

About You

You’ll bring a friendly, empathetic and professional approach, with the ability to thrive in a busy ward environment.

We’re looking for:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
• Medical administration or patient-facing experience
• Patient Management System experience (desirable)
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
