Project Coordinator / Manager

About us

JSME Engineering are metal fabricators and installers based in Dandenong South. Our expertise is in structural steel, architectural metalworks, cladding systems and balustrades. We are currently delivery work on some of Victoria's largest infrastructure projects. With a solid pipeline of projects ahead, we are looking for a Project Coordinator/Manager who has experience working within a sub‑contract fabrication environment or with a Tier 1 head contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Coordination

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and monitoring steel fabrication projects from initiation to completion.

  • Track progress against timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Coordinate shop detail drafting, procurement, fabrication, painting, and delivery schedules.

  • Apply your practical knowledge of erection methodology, cranes, access equipment, and site labour to assist our Site Manager to plan install works.

• Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as the central point of contact between clients, engineers, suppliers, and site teams.

  • Prepare and distribute project updates, reports, and meeting minutes.

  • Support clear communication of technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.

• Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate project records, drawings, and specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, OHS regulations, and company policies.

  • Assist with preparation of quality assurance documentation and inspection reports.

• Operational Support

  • Identify and resolve project issues, escalating where necessary.

  • Support onboarding and induction processes for site teams.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, SOPs, and safety practices.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

• Experience in project coordination within construction, engineering, or steel fabrication.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, tailored to diverse audiences.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Proficiency in project collaboration platforms such as Aconex, Team Binder, or similar.

Desirable

• Qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

• Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, coatings, and surface preparation.

• Experience liaising with suppliers and managing procurement schedules.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Proficiency in project management tools (Microsoft Project).

• Knowledge of OHS practices and compliance requirements in Victoria.
