About the role
Ascent Training Solutions | Northgate, QLD
Full-time | Permanent or 6-month contract
Office-based | 8:00am – 4:30pm
Competitive salary based on experience
Immediate start
Ascent Training Solutions is seeking an experienced Compliance Specialist to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and strengthening quality and compliance across our Registered Training Organisation.
This is a experienced, hands-on compliance role suited to an experienced VET professional with strong knowledge of RTO regulatory requirements and the confidence to work across complex compliance matters.
We are open to appointing the right candidate on either a permanent full-time basis or an initial 6-month full-time contract, depending on experience, suitability and individual circumstances.
About the Role
The Compliance Specialist will support a broad range of quality, compliance and continuous improvement activities across Ascent Training Solutions.
You will work across both planned compliance activities and day-to-day operational matters, providing high-level technical expertise while helping embed strong compliance practices throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Monitoring compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2025, regulatory requirements and other applicable VET sector obligations
Conducting internal audits, compliance reviews and organisation-wide health checks
Supporting preparation for regulatory audits and responding to audit findings where required
Reviewing training and assessment practices, resources and documentation for compliance and quality
Supporting validation activities and reviewing validation outcomes, practices and documentation
Reviewing trainer and assessor qualifications, credentials, vocational competency, industry currency and professional development evidence
Developing, reviewing and maintaining policies, procedures, registers, templates and compliance documentation
Identifying compliance gaps, risks and improvement opportunities and supporting effective rectification
Monitoring regulatory and VET sector changes and helping translate requirements into practical operational actions
Reviewing student files, records and RTO documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance
Supporting training product development, implementation, transition and ongoing scope compliance
Monitoring continuous improvement activities and ensuring identified actions are appropriately implemented and recorded
Providing practical, considered compliance advice to the RTO Manager and staff across the organisation
Supporting compliance awareness across administration and training teams
Assisting with funding contract compliance and associated requirements where applicable
About You
This position will suit an experienced VET compliance professional who is comfortable working at a higher technical level and working both autonomously and as part of a team on complex compliance matters.
You will have the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and determine what they mean in practice, rather than relying solely on checklists or established processes.
You will be confident working independently when required while also collaborating closely with management and the wider organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrated high-level compliance experience within the VET sector
Strong understanding of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and their practical application within an operating RTO
Demonstrated ability to identify compliance risks, investigate issues and develop practical rectification strategies
Strong internal auditing, quality assurance and continuous improvement capability
The ability to critically review training and assessment practices and evidence rather than simply confirming that documentation exists
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
The confidence to provide clear, well-considered and evidence-based compliance advice
Strong written communication skills and the ability to develop high-quality policies, procedures, reports and compliance documentation
The ability to manage competing priorities and work across multiple compliance activities simultaneously
A practical and collaborative approach to compliance, with the ability to work effectively with administration, trainers, assessors, consultants and management
The ability to take responsibility for compliance activities from initial identification through to rectification and completion
What Would Make You Stand Out
The following experience and qualifications would be highly valued and will strengthen your application. We do not expect every candidate to meet every point, so if you have strong VET compliance experience and meet most of the criteria, we encourage you to apply.
Experience preparing for, participating in or responding to ASQA or other regulatory audits
Experience using aXcelerate or a similar Student Management System
Experience within RTOs delivering training to the civil construction, mining or related industries
A current Training and Assessment qualification, such as the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent
Qualifications in compliance, quality assurance, auditing, risk management, VET or another relevant discipline
Experience reviewing or developing training and assessment resources
Experience with trainer and assessor compliance and credential management
Experience with VET regulatory reporting, funding requirements or government-funded training programs
Why Join Ascent Training Solutions?
This is an opportunity to join an organisation that recognises the importance of strong compliance systems and is committed to continuously strengthening the quality of its operations.
You will have the opportunity to:
Make a meaningful impact across a broad range of RTO compliance and quality activities
Work directly with key decision-makers and experienced VET professionals
Contribute to the continued development and improvement of organisational systems, processes and compliance practices
Contribute your expertise and ideas to practical organisational improvements
Work within an organisation that is actively investing in quality, compliance and continuous improvement
Join a professional, collaborative and welcoming team.
Choose between permanent full-time employment or a six-month full-time contract, depending on your circumstances
Further your career development and progression within the organisation after successful completion of probation
Have your experience and specialist knowledge recognised through competitive remuneration
Location and Hours
This is a full-time, office-based position located in Northgate, Queensland.
Standard working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Applicants must be able to reliably travel to and work from our Northgate office.
An immediate start is available.
