FTI Group Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned company specialising in prefabricated and preformed formwork. FTI Group is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Worker to join its factory-based team. The role offers stable hours, a supportive workplace, and no travel requirements. A strong commitment to quality, safety and attention to detail is essential.

• Fabricate, assemble, modify and repair sheet metal and related components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Operate workshop machinery, hand tools and precision equipment.
• Measure, cut, bend, shape and join materials accurately.
• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and compliance.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean condition.
• Identify and resolve fabrication issues.
• Complete relevant job documentation and records.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production deadlines.
• Follow WHS requirements and company procedures.
• Participate in training and ongoing skills development.

• Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent).
• At least 1 year of relevant sheet metal/fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Competent use of workshop tools and machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Sound understanding of WHS and safe work practices.
• Good problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of initiative and a positive, “can-do” attitude.
• Physically capable, well presented and respectful.
• Relevant industry experience will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

1.Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and mechanical systems in heavy vehicles, plant equipment, and machinery.
2.Dismantle, reassemble, and overhaul engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems to manufacturer specifications.
3.Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs on a variety of fleet and heavy equipment.
4.Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot faults and ensure quality repairs.
5.Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and workspaces in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.
6.Fabricate and modify parts as required using workshop machinery and tools.
7. Collaborate with workshop supervisors, parts interpreters, and other technicians to ensure timely job completion.
8.Complete detailed job cards, maintenance logs, and service reports accurately and on time.
9.Adhere to all safety procedures and ensure compliance with RGM Maintenance’s health and safety standards.
10.Participate in ongoing training and upskilling to keep up to date with advancements in diesel technology and equipment.

Skill & Experience

Required Skills and Experience:
1.Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting) or Diesel Fitting, or equivalent qualification.
2.Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Fitter (General) or Diesel Fitter, preferably with heavy vehicles or machinery.
3.Strong understanding of diesel engine operation, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
4.Proficiency in using workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
5.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and hydraulic schematics.
6.Sound knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices in mechanical workshop settings.
7.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in mechanical assembly and repairs.
8.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
9.Current driver’s licence (HR or HC licence desirable).
10.Experience working on trucks, trailers, and plant equipment will be highly regarded.
