About the role
As the Asphalt Technical Lead – Product Support at Vertu Equipment, you'll become the key technical point of contact for Vertu's asphalt product range. This is a hands-on role where you'll be on the tools, in the field and working directly with customers, while also helping build the technical capability of the asphalt division from the ground up. The role covers Victoria initially, with interstate, New Zealand and Pacific travel required from time to time. Asphalt work is often time-critical and performed at night or on weekends, so flexibility around customer breakdowns and paving shifts is important.
Key responsibilities
Commissioning new profilers, pavers and asphalt plant equipment
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control system faults
Providing technical support to customers and service technicians
Supporting customers during critical paving and profiling operations
Setting up pavers, screeds, grade control and associated systems
Providing first-line technical support for asphalt plants and coordinating specialist contractors where required
Conducting operator and maintenance training
Managing warranty investigations and technical escalations with SANY
Mentoring technicians and apprentices as the team grows
Working closely with Sales, Parts and Service to deliver a strong customer experience
About you
A trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant, Plant Mechanics, Fitting & Turning or equivalent
3+ years' experience working on heavy mobile plant or similar field-service equipment
Strong hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills
Experience working independently in the field
Road construction equipment experience
Experience with asphalt pavers, profilers or asphalt plants is highly desirable
Experience with screeds, grade control or machine control systems is advantageous
Exposure to PLCs and electronic control systems is advantageous
Strong customer communication skills
A current Australian driver's licence
