We're hiring a Head of Operations to help us scale Opel Mobile across five markets.
We're growing fast, and we need someone to own our operations — supply chain, inventory, freight, and our 3PL and factory relationships across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland and the South Pacific.
You'll be the strategic and operational bridge between executive leadership and daily execution, keeping our hardware movements synchronised with commercial sales pipelines across every active market.
This isn't a role where you administer someone else's system. You'll build it, own it, and run it.
Key Responsibilities
Factory Management & Procurement — Act as the primary interface for our international manufacturing partners (primarily in hubs like Shenzhen, China). Place and manage orders to fulfil inventory demand across all markets, oversee production schedules, manage component and hardware lead times, leverage pricing variables, and negotiate supply agreements with our factories.Inventory & Stock Forecasting — Work closely with the global sales team to forecast inventory needs across a rolling 12-month period.Logistics & 3PL Governance — Work directly with our freight forwarding partners to keep international shipping efficient and cost-effective (individual customs entries and freight bookings are handled externally). Manage our 3PL and distribution partners to guarantee timely delivery and meet strict commercial SLAs.Commercial Negotiation — Negotiate trading terms with our global distributors, and negotiate freight, 3PL and warehousing agreements across all markets to secure competitive rates and terms.Systems, Process & SOPs — Own all operational systems and processes across the business, and build and maintain SOPs for every operational function.Cross-Functional Collaboration — Synchronise go-to-market timelines across all business functions and regions. Work alongside the Product Manager and Product Engineer so technical blueprints, component standards and QA testing align with production deadlines and customer launch dates.Commercial Finance Integration — Work alongside our Bookkeeper and CFO to track landed costs, and report operational inventory values. Coordinate with finance teams across all markets to maintain clear financial visibility.
What Success Looks LikeReliable Availability — Flagship products stay reliably in stock, while slow-moving and inactive inventory is kept to a minimum.On-Time Production — Our contract manufacturers consistently deliver on time and in full, keeping launches and replenishment on schedule.Fast Fulfilment — Retail orders move quickly and dependably through our 3PL network, with reliable next-day dispatch.Consistent Quality — Product returns and defect rates stay low across every wholesale channel.
Selection Criteria & ExperienceIndustry Background — 8–12+ years managing multi-territory distribution within an importing structure, ideally in mobile phones, tablets, consumer electronics components or FMCG.Supply Chain Domain Expertise — Proven history working directly with international freight forwarders, regional 3PL networks and overseas manufacturing factories, navigating communication boundaries and global shipping variables.Commercial Negotiation — Demonstrated experience negotiating trading terms with distributors, supply agreements with factories, and freight, 3PL and warehousing rates, with a current view of what competitive terms look like in each.Import & Compliance Knowledge — Working knowledge of import requirements across multiple markets, including the licences, registrations, compliance documentation and customs processes needed to land product in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland and the EU.Systems & Process Ownership — Track record of owning operational systems end to end and building SOPs that hold across a business, not administering a system someone else designed.Technical & Platform Literacy — Advanced Excel skills and deep knowledge of inventory management platforms to run operational forecasting.AI Integration & Workflow Innovation — Knowledge and hands-on use of AI tools to optimise workflows, automate routine reporting and drive organisational efficiency (highly regarded).
