About the Role

This fantastic opportunity is for a motivated Associate/Senior Associate to join our high-performing, fast paced Recoveries team in our Melbourne office. Ideally, you will have at least 3 years’ post qualification experience with a keen interest in insurance litigation.

This role will see you managing a practice of litigated and unlitigated motor vehicle and property damage recoveries and settlements matters under the supervision and guidance of our Recoveries Principals. You will work as part of a close-knit team which boasts a collegiate, supportive and collaborative culture, making it the perfect environment for you to develop your advocacy skills, strategic-advice work, and practice management skills.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:

• A genuine interest in Insurance law or Litigation
• At least 3 years’ post admission experience in an Insurance practice, preferably with some motor or property damage recoveries experience
• Ability to work fast and meticulously with high attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organisational skill
• Ability to work collaboratively with a strong sense of initiative and autonomy
• A great work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your career
• A hard working and dedicated approach to your practice

Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrates an understanding of the legal issues relevant to the practice of insurance law and a demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the commercial objectives of clients.
• This role requires an eye for technical detail but also the ability to provide legal advice in a commercial context. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly with a high level of attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of seniority.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to deal confidently with clients directly and foster client relationships.
• Time management skills and proven ability to prioritise  multiple active matters at any one time.
• Capacity to problem solve and think laterally
