Fergus Builders is a locally owned, award-winning construction company delivering high-quality projects since 1983. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, we’re growing and looking for a skilled, hands-on Civil Operator to join our high-performing team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Civil Project Manager, you’ll play a key role across a variety of civil projects.

You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, helping drive site productivity while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Projects range from build pads and carparks to subdivisions and more—so no two days are the same.

 Key responsibilities include:

• Operating machinery including graders-final trim, excavators, loaders, rollers, posi tracks, and trucks

• Leading site activities in the absence of the Civil Project Manager

• Conducting daily pre-starts and reporting maintenance requirements

• Implementing and maintaining quality control standards

• Ensuring plant and vehicles are maintained to a high standard (including weekly cleaning)

• Upholding all health, safety, and environmental requirements

• Completing accurate daily reporting and documentation

• Identifying site challenges and delivering practical solutions 

ABOUT YOU

• Proven experience in civil construction operations

• Final Trim and GPS experience - (essential)

• Strong capability operating a range of civil machinery

• Current HR (Heavy Rigid) licence (essential)

• White Card (essential)

• Driver’s licence and reliable transport (essential)

• Ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings

• Solid understanding of civil construction methods and materials

• Experience in subdivisions and commercial earthworks (highly regarded)

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• Detail-focused with sound problem-solving ability

• Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure

• Comfortable with basic digital reporting tools
