HC Driver

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HC Driver to join Scrap Metal Salvage on a full-time basis in St Marys, NSW 2760. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining heavy commercial vehicles whilst transporting scrap metal and materials to and from various locations. This is a critical position within our logistics operations, ensuring that our salvage materials are delivered efficiently and safely to meet our customers' requirements and maintain our excellent operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy commercial vehicles safely and in accordance with all relevant road and workplace safety regulations

• Transport scrap metal and salvage materials to designated locations, ensuring loads are secured properly and weight distribution is compliant

• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or defects promptly

• Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation for all journeys, including delivery records and vehicle inspections

• Comply with all traffic laws, speed restrictions and load management requirements

• Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays

• Ensure the vehicle remains clean and well-maintained at all times

• Follow company safety protocols and contribute to a positive safety culture on site

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Commercial (HC) Driver's Licence for Australia

• Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one

• Proven experience as an HC driver, preferably within the transport, logistics or salvage industries

• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and vehicle load management procedures

• Excellent driving record with no major traffic violations

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple deliveries

• Good communication skills and professional attitude when interacting with customers and team members

• Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high safety standards

• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and basic vehicle maintenance is advantageous
