Sous chef - full time

Poachers is looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at our restaurant and weddings venue in the Canberra region.

This is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys variety, takes pride in quality food and wants to be part of a team delivering a memorable regional food and wine experience.

Working closely with our Executive Chef, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including:

• Preparing and delivering high-quality food

• Assisting with menu preparation, specials and wedding/event menus

• Harvesting produce from the Kitchen Garden ahead of service

• Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency

• Ensuring food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards are maintained

• Ordering, stock control and minimising food waste

• Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff

We are looking for someone who:

• Has proven experience as a Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie

• Has strong food preparation and service skills

• Has a positive attitude and a willingness to get involved

• Is punctual, organised, reliable and calm under pressure

• Has excellent attention to detail

• Enjoys working as part of a team and is comfortable taking a leadership role when required

• Has a genuine passion for quality food and hospitality

• Understands food safety and kitchen compliance requirements

• Strong verbal communication

• MUST have a car / own transport

Experience in events, weddings, functions or high-volume service will be preferred.

• Full-time position with reduced weekly hours during winter/wedding off season
