The opportunity

The Operations Coordinator, ACT & Southern NSW plays an important role in supporting the delivery of participation initiatives and competitions across the region, helping more people connect with and enjoy Australian football.

This role is a 15-month maximum term contract, covering a period of parental leave.

Based in Canberra, this role sits within the Participation and Programs team and supports the effective coordination of programs, events and a large casual workforce.

A key focus is using technology to roster, communicate with and deploy casual staff across multiple programs, while contributing to their ongoing engagement, training and development.

What you’ll own

You’ll help deliver high-quality participation experiences by coordinating people, programs, communication and operational processes across ACT and Southern NSW.

You’ll add value through:

• Recruiting, rostering and training casual staff to support the delivery of Auskick, Superkick, Sporting Schools, Gala Days and other participation programs
• Supporting casual staff performance through clear feedback, stakeholder insights and a focus on consistent program quality
• Acting as a key operational contact for casual staff involved in school-based program delivery
• Providing clear, timely communication to program hosts to support smooth delivery and a positive experience
• Coordinating program information, start dates and promotional opportunities for casual staff
• Supporting After School Centre bookings through direct-to-participant communications and relevant program information
• Managing enquiries and bookings for school-based programs, including Sporting Schools
• Coordinating invoicing for school programs, school competitions and additional bookings
• Managing participation data inputs and preparing reports to support team priorities and decision making
• Working towards operational targets, including revenue and new school members
• Contributing to projects and initiatives that improve program delivery and team outcomes
• Supporting a collaborative, positive and connected Participation and Programs team culture

What you’ll bring

• Experience working effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Strong organisational and administrative capability, with high attention to detail
• Confidence using technology to support communication, rostering and data management
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate and support a large casual workforce
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality and consistency
• Sound judgement when responding to stakeholders, casual staff and program hosts
• A collaborative approach and commitment to supporting participation growth in community football
• Care, integrity and accountability in work involving children, young people and community programs
