Experienced Drafter – Rail & Metro

The Role

We’re looking for an Experienced Drafter to join our Rail & Metro team, supporting the delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects across Australia.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality drafting and documentation outputs, ensuring alignment with SMEC and client standards while contributing to efficient, coordinated project delivery.

You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams in a collaborative, digitally enabled environment, playing a key role in delivering buildable, compliant design documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for rail infrastructure projectsDeliver construction-level documentation in line with project requirementsApply SMEC drafting standards, QA processes, and client specificationsManage drawing outputs within project timelines and milestonesCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design deliveryMaintain and manage data within Common Data Environments (e.g. ProjectWise or similar)Undertake checking and review of drawings to ensure quality and accuracySupport continuous improvement in digital delivery and drafting practices

About You

You’re a capable and detail-oriented drafter with experience working on transport infrastructure projects, ideally within rail or metro environments.

You Bring

3+ years of demonstrated experience as a Drafter within civil/structural or infrastructure projectsStrong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStationExperience delivering detailed design and construction documentationUnderstanding of drafting standards, QA processes, and model coordinationAbility to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlinesStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Experience working within digital delivery environments and across multidisciplinary teams will be highly regarded.
