About the Role:
We are seeking a driven, team-oriented Workshop Supervisor to join our Newman team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading workshop operations in Newman and overseeing the maintenance and repair of our vehicles, trucks, buses and trailers, ensuring the highest standards of safety and service excellence are maintained.
If you are a highly skilled heavy diesel mechanical trades expert who is willing to get their hands dirty and provide technical support, we’d like to hear from you. Your ability to motivate and inspire diverse teams to meet operational demands will be highly regarded.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Working closely with the Operations Manager to coordinate safe and timely vehicle servicing, repairs and inspection schedules to ensure optimum operational efficiency.
• Prepare, supervise and control all workshop activities
• Manage technicians and apprentices to ensure the highest of safety and quality standards are maintained
• Responsible for ensuring a safe and compliance working environment and adherence to company policies and procedures
• Actively responsible for the services, mechanical repairs and maintenance of the fleet
• Work allocation and ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained.
• Manage corrective campaigns for fleet defects, recalls and warranty replacements
• Communicate work progress to management including time frames and costings
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and liaise with spare parts department to ensure that the correct inventory is included for repair orders.
• Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained
• Assist with review and quoting of vehicle damage for customer on charges
• Assist in completing servicing and repair duties of the fleet to meet operational requirements.
• Attend mine site and remote areas for vehicle breakdowns and servicing requirements
• Monitoring the use of materials and equipment to minimise waste and damage
• Assist parts inventory to maintain stock levels to enable servicing and repairs to be completed without delay
Skills and Experience:
• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic is essential.
• Current Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate.
• Minimum five years’ experience leading or supervising a workshop team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, support and develop teams with a strong people-focused leadership approach.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, with the ability to lead by example and promote safe work practices across the team.
• Strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
• High standards of maintenance, servicing and record keeping.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across heavy vehicle fleet assets.
• Valid MR driver’s licence, or higher.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to remain organised and focused under pressure.
• Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use maintenance systems and complete accurate records.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proactive continuous improvement mindset.
Residential applicants based in Newman or those relocating to Newman are preferred.
