About the roles

Phelans Bakery is seeking both a Junior Shop Assistant and Senior Shop Assistant to join our team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a welcoming retail environment where you'll assist customers, maintain store standards, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operations of our bakery.

This role offers flexibility and the chance to work within the vibrant retail and consumer products sector. You'll be at the heart of our customer experience, ensuring every visitor leaves with a positive impression of Phelans Bakery.

Key responsibilities

• Serving customers with a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and processing payments accurately

• Stocking shelves and displays with bakery products, ensuring items are fresh, well-organised and visually appealing

• Maintaining a clean and hygienic store environment, including counters, floors and customer areas

• Assisting with opening and closing procedures, including till reconciliation and basic stock checks

• Answering customer queries about products and making helpful recommendations

• Supporting the team with general retail duties and assisting with promotional activities when required

• Following health, safety and food handling guidelines at all times

• Contributing to a positive team atmosphere and helping colleagues when needed

What we're looking for

• Flexible availability for day shifts, early mornings and late closes

• Reliable transport

• Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous, though enthusiasm and willingness to learn are equally important

• Barista experience preferred but not essential

• Excellent customer service skills with a genuine desire to help and interact positively with customers

• Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to commit to your scheduled shifts

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and handle lifting and stacking of products

• Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and operating a till

• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• A positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to take on various tasks as needed

• Food handling qualifications or willingness to obtain them are a plus

• Availability to work at any of our three locations, 36 Main Street Narangba, Glenwood Drive Morayfield and King Street Caboolture
