Product Development Manager

We’re hiring a Product Development Manager to own how that mission turns into real product, leading the day-to-day execution of BioPak’s product development across four core workstreams: Customer NPD, Supplier & Product Changes, Extensions & New Formats, and Portfolio & Range Optimisation. This is a critical role within the Product Team, leading a small team and working across the business as the primary point of accountability for a pipeline delivered on time, to quality, and with strong commercial outcomes.

What you’ll own

• End-to-end delivery of bespoke, branded, and account-specific packaging solutions that drive commercial value
• Primary point of contact for the Sales Team on product
• Range optimisation, artwork customisation, and customer cost-saving initiatives within controlled parameters
• Product improvements driven by cost-out initiatives, material substitutions, specification updates, and supplier rationalisation
• Close-in innovation: new sizes, formats, and artwork/design updates that extend existing successful product platforms
• Opportunities to lift baseline sales with relatively low effort and high return
• Incremental customer growth through improved shelf appeal, product optimisation, and targeted range expansion
• Regular portfolio benchmarking and competitor reviews to inform range rationalisation and optimisation decisions
• Identifying gaps, redundancies, and commercial opportunities across the product range
• Briefing CAD designers and external suppliers on new product knifelines, translating requirements into clear technical briefs that enable fast, accurate execution
• The end-to-end prototyping process, compressing approval timelines so samples are prioritised, reviewed, and signed off with speed and commercial rigour

Project & process excellence

• Drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and external suppliers
• Keep every stakeholder informed, engaged, and aligned through the product lifecycle, with minimal need for escalation
• Continuously improve project processes, tools, and workflows to enhance speed to market and execution quality
• Ensure every deliverable meets quality, compliance, and commercial requirements

What success looks like

• All four workstreams running efficiently, with clear ownership, on-time delivery, and high stakeholder satisfaction
• Sales and qualifying customers getting timely, high-quality NPD support
• Portfolio benchmarking and competitor reviews happening regularly and shaping clear commercial recommendations
• A well-led project management team operating with clarity and accountability
• Speed to market continuously improving across the pipeline

You’ll thrive here if you have

• 4-7 years’ experience in product development, project management, or category management within product, manufacturing, or supply chain environments
• A proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams with competing priorities
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams and external partners
• A commercial mindset, with a strong understanding of how product decisions drive business outcomes
• High organisation, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
• Excellent communication skills, from day-to-day execution through to senior leadership reporting

Bonus points if you have

• Experience in packaging, manufacturing, or sustainable products
• Experience working with offshore suppliers and international production timelines
• Familiarity with stage-gate or product development processes
• Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com
• Exposure to portfolio management, range rationalisation, or competitor benchmarking
