The opportunity
Help more people discover, enjoy and stay connected to Australian football across the North East Border Region, including Alpine, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Benalla and Moira.
This role is a 12-month maximum-term contract covering a period of parental leave.
Reporting to the Participation Lead – Northern Country, the Participation Coordinator will help attract, transition and retain participants across AFL Auskick, Superkick, Community Football, Nines and School Football.
You will coordinate quality programmes, strengthen relationships across schools and community football, and support participation growth in established, new and emerging markets.
What You’ll Own
You will help create quality football experiences and stronger pathways for participants across the region.
You’ll Add Value Through
Coordinating the delivery of AFL Auskick and Superkick programmes, with a focus on programme quality and participation growthSupporting the recruitment of Auskick and Superkick coordinatorsBuilding productive relationships with teachers, schools and programme stakeholders to grow the School Ambassador networkSupporting the training and education of casual staff delivering AFL programmesBooking, coordinating and delivering school programmes that increase participation across key football formatsStrengthening School Football pathways and helping more participants progress into football opportunitiesDelivering programmes that support the transition and retention of community football participantsSupporting participation among transitioning Auskickers, female participants, multicultural communities and people with disabilityIdentifying opportunities to grow the game in new and emerging marketsCoordinating player appearances with programme activity to support participant growth and retentionContributing to priority projects and supporting the success of the broader teamManaging relationships with AFL Victoria, programme coordinators, School Ambassadors, AFL clubs, community groups, leagues and clubs
What You’ll Bring
One to two years’ experience in a similar role or fieldStrong administration skills, including experience using Microsoft softwareThe ability to establish priorities, manage competing tasks and deliver agreed objectivesWell-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skillsThe ability to contribute diverse thinking and practical ideasA strong customer service focus and the ability to build constructive relationshipsThe ability to negotiate, mediate and work through competing interestsExperience working towards and achieving targetsThe capability to adapt to and support changeKnowledge of AFL Victoria development programmes and their impact on the sports industryA degree in Sports Management, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience, is desirableA collaborative and accountable approach, with the drive to contribute to shared outcomes
