An exciting opportunity exists for experienced finance professionals to join a high-performing Finance team, providing strategic budgeting, forecasting and financial business partnering support to senior executives.

About the Role
As an EL1 Budgeting Officer / Finance Business Partner, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial management of significant government programs. You'll work closely with senior leaders to provide trusted financial advice, manage budgets and forecasts, and drive improved financial performance across your portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading annual budget development and ongoing forecasting activities.
• Providing strategic finance business partnering support to senior stakeholders.
• Preparing monthly management reports, executive dashboards and financial analysis.
• Monitoring budget performance and providing insights into variances and emerging risks.
• Supporting resource allocation decisions through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Preparing high-quality briefing papers and executive reports.
• Ensuring compliance with Commonwealth financial legislation and policy.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and systems.

About You
To be successful, you'll bring:

• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• Strong Finance Business Partnering or FP&A experience within the APS or another large, complex organisation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capability.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems such as TechnologyOne, SAP, Oracle or similar.
• Experience using Power BI or other reporting tools will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.
