Shape the future of one of Tasmania’s most important natural assets
The Derwent Estuary Program (DEP) is seeking an experienced and highly capable individual to join its Board as a volunteer Director. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the stewardship and long-term sustainability of the Timtumil Minanya/Derwent Estuary through strategic leadership, strong governance, and cross-sector collaboration.
As a Board Director, you will play a key role in guiding the strategic direction, oversight, and performance of the program. Working alongside fellow Board members, you will help ensure DEP continues to deliver impactful, science-based outcomes that improve the estuary’s environmental health while supporting community and economic values.
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring one or more of the following at a senior or executive level:
You are a strategic thinker who can operate at a governance level and contribute to complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You bring sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to public value and environmental outcomes. Prior board experience is advantageous but not essential.
The Derwent Estuary Program is nationally recognised for its collaborative, science-driven approach to waterway management. As a Director, you will:
This is a voluntary, unpaid position.
Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional committee participation as required. Directors are expected to actively contribute to governance, strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
