Location: Flexible within Australia; Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane preferred. Hybrid working arrangements are supported.
Employment type: Fixed-term, two-year contract.
Salary: AMCS Level 4 $93,027 - $106,433 per annum (full-time equivalent), plus superannuation (12.5%).
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
The Communications Specialist develops and delivers strategic, audience-focused communications for AMCS' campaigns, building public support and engagement to help protect Australia's oceans and marine life.
Reporting to the Campaign Communications Manager, this role designs and executes integrated communications strategies and plans, working closely with campaigners, communications and digital staff, community groups, partner organisations and external providers. The Specialist creates powerful content for AMCS' website, social media, email and campaign materials, develops core messaging, identifies media opportunities and supports high-profile activities and events.
With a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement, the Communications Specialist monitors results, adjusts plans to maximise impact and ensures campaign communications reflect AMCS' tone of voice, values and legal requirements. The role may also support other AMCS campaigns and contribute to grant applications and reporting.
Campaign Communications: Minimum two years' experience developing and implementing successful communications strategies, ideally in campaigning, advocacy or not-for-profit environments.
Direct Marketing and Media: Proven experience in direct marketing through CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Marketing Cloud, together with traditional media outreach.
Digital Communications: Strong experience in social media management, website content publishing such as WordPress, and coordinating multimedia production.
Content Development: Demonstrated ability to produce engaging content and campaign collateral that communicates complex messages clearly to different audiences.
Planning and Organisation: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while delivering high-quality work under pressure.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders and service providers.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Values: Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field are desirable, as is knowledge of conservation, politics or environmental issues. You will share AMCS' values and passion for protecting our oceans and marine life.
