Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Accounts Payable Officer to join our growing finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–2 years' experience in Accounts Payable who is looking to build their skills and grow within a busy construction and property development business.

You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, taking responsibility for the day-to-day Accounts Payable function while also gaining exposure to payroll, BAS preparation and other areas of finance.

We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, takes initiative and isn't afraid to get stuck in. You'll be supported by an experienced finance manager while having the opportunity to take ownership of your role and develop your skills.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the end-to-end Accounts Payable function across multiple entities.

• Processing, coding and reconciling supplier invoices.

• Maintaining accurate supplier records and resolving invoice and payment queries.

• Preparing and processing regular payment runs.

• Performing supplier statement reconciliations and account reconciliations.

• Assisting with payroll processing and related payroll administration.

• Assisting with BAS preparation and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

• Supporting month-end processes and general accounting duties as required.

• Working with project and construction teams to ensure invoices are correctly allocated and approved.

• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring company processes are followed.

• Identifying opportunities to improve AP and finance processes.

About You

We're looking for someone who is early in their finance career but ready to take the next step. You don't need years of experience — we're more interested in someone who has a solid foundation, a great attitude and is eager to learn.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• 1–2 years' previous experience in an Accounts Payable role.

• Strong working knowledge of Xero.

• Experience with payroll processing.

• Experience assisting with BAS preparation.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

• A willingness to learn and develop your accounting skills.

• A proactive, hands-on attitude and willingness to get stuck in and take ownership.

• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal teams.

• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

• Experience with Procore will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

• Experience within the construction or property industry will be advantageous.
