About the role
This is not a standard retail job. I run a small, independent boutique jewellery store in Cairns, specialising in fine jewellery, custom designs, repairs, and valuations. After 31 years in business, I'm looking for a highly capable, dependable person to work alongside me — and to confidently run the shop when I'm away.
Key responsibilities
Confidently run the shop independently when the owner is away
Manage jewellery repairs, customer enquiries, and follow-ups
Sell jewellery with confidence and genuine care for customer needs
Keep the store immaculate, professional, and welcoming
Build strong customer relationships through warm, engaging communication
About you
A confident and accomplished salesperson who enjoys selling and has a natural ability to connect with customers.
Reliable and punctual – this is absolutely essential.
Mature, trustworthy and responsible, with excellent common sense.
Experienced in retail or sales, with a minimum of 1–2 years' experience.
Warm, engaging and naturally good at building rapport with customers.
Calm, organised and capable of running a small boutique independently.
Well presented and professional, with a genuine pride in providing excellent customer service.
Comfortable handling customer enquiries, jewellery repairs, follow-ups and general day-to-day shop responsibilities.
Computer literate and comfortable learning POS systems, customer databases and valuations.
Positive and energetic – most days it will be just you and me, so having a good attitude and enjoying your work is important!
