About the role
Girraween High School is a fully academically selective, co-educational high school located in Western Sydney, proudly serving a diverse community of 787 students, with 5% from an EAL/D background at the level of Consolidating. Our school community reflects a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) value of 0. Consistently, 100% of our Year 12 graduates pursue tertiary study at university, demonstrating our focus on educational excellence and future readiness.
Our teaching and learning practices are designed to cater to High Potential and Gifted students (HPG) with high expectations for academic achievement. This is to ensure that high potential learners receive the support they need to excel and reach their full potential. Staff utilise data and assessments in a flexible and responsive manner as an essential component of daily classroom practice. They analyse student progress and achievement data to identify trends at the individual, group, and whole school levels. Our teaching and learning programs are underpinned by a differentiated curriculum which caters for the four Domains of giftedness and also twice exceptional students.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
