Workshop Fitter

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Fitter is responsible for carrying out mechanical fitting, assembly, repair and maintenance tasks on underground mining equipment. The role requires adherence to safety, quality, and production standards. The Workshop Fitter supports the Leading Hand by delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining organised work areas, and contributing to a safe and efficient workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform fitting, assembly and repair tasks on underground mining equipment to specifications and drawings

• Review job instructions, drawings and procedures before starting work; ensure correct tooling, equipment and parts available

• Complete build and job-related documentation, including checklists, inspection reports and time entries in line with workshop requirements

• Work to required tolerances and quality standards, raising any defects, non-conformances or design concerns with the supervisor

• Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and lifting equipment in accordance with procedures

• Work effectively with other team members to achieve schedules and targets

What We're Looking For

• Recognised trade certificate

• 2+ years post trade experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

• Sound knowledge of workshop safety procedures and safe work practices

• Mobile equipment hydraulic and pneumatic system experience, including diagnosing and troubleshooting

• Experience with underground mining equipment

• HR work license in either or all categories, Fork Truck, Dogging, Intermediate Rigging

• Overhead crane competency RIIHAN305D

• ExDes skill set course RIISS00030 set of competencies
