About the role
Full-Time | Sydney (Hybrid) | Salary Range - $70-90kRecent graduates with strong extracurricular marketing experience and candidates with 1-2 years of marketing experience are encouraged to apply.
About OctopusbotOctopusbot builds AI models that forecast crop yields, planted areas, and grain/oilseed market dynamics for farmers, traders, and food companies worldwide. We help our customers make smarter decisions with cutting-edge models, satellite data, and intuitive dashboards.
We are in our GTM stage, expanding internationally, and growing quickly. This means things move fast, priorities shift, and everyone wears multiple hats. We need better structure, visibility, and execution across the business - and this role exists to help make that happen.
The RoleThis is a full-time hybrid role blending marketing execution with business operations - roughly half and half. We are looking for someone who brings real marketing capability: an eye for what works on social, a sense for brand voice, comfort with content creation tools, and the ability to think about audiences and messaging. You will also help run the operational engine that keeps a fast-growing startup moving - reporting, tracking, processes, and follow-through.
You'll work directly with the founders and the broader team. One day you might be planning a content calendar, coordinating a webinar series, and analysing campaign performance; the next you'll be building a KPI tracker, following up on project milestones, or creating a repeatable workflow. You'll help turn messy information into clear outputs - whether that is a polished LinkedIn campaign or a clean weekly report. This is not a traditional admin role. We expect you to think independently, improve things as you go, ask good questions, and take ownership of your work across both marketing and operations.
What You'll Work OnMarketingCreate and coordinate social media content across LinkedIn and X (Twitter) - including static posts, short-form video, and carousel content using CanvaProduce and distribute monthly newsletters via HubSpot, from content drafting through to send and performance trackingSupport the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including content calendars, email, social, and eventsResearch, select, and coordinate events, webinars, and conferences relevant to our target audience - managing logistics, promotion, and follow-upAssist with website content updates, landing pages, and redesign projectsTrack and report on marketing activity and engagement - compile campaign summaries, social media metrics, and newsletter performance into simple, actionable reportsHelp maintain CRM hygiene and marketing lists, supporting lead tracking and audience segmentationContribute ideas to brand strategy, messaging, and content direction - we want someone who thinks and creates, not just executesCreate and maintain partnerships with podcasts and content creators that align with our target audience
Business OperationsMaintain and improve KPI trackers across customers, usage, marketing activity, and operationsKeep weekly and monthly reporting inputs clean and current - spot missing or inconsistent data and help fix itTrack key projects, deadlines, and next steps across the business; follow up with team members and founders on open actionsPrepare notes, summaries, and action lists after meetingsCreate templates, checklists, and repeatable processes to reduce manual work and improve efficiencyHelp with data entry, document management, and information verificationSupport ad-hoc research, reporting, and project tracking as needed
What We're Looking ForWe are looking for someone early in their career who can demonstrate real marketing ability - whether from work experience, student societies, personal projects, or freelance work. You do not need prior operations experience, but you should be organised, proactive, and comfortable picking up new tools and processes quickly.
Experience & BackgroundA recent graduate with significant extracurricular marketing experience (e.g., student societies, clubs, personal projects) OR candidates with 1-2 years of marketing work experience. Internships, part-time work, volunteering, or personal projects that demonstrate initiative are all valued.
Marketing SkillsHands-on content creation skills - you have built social media posts, newsletters, videos, or other content (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)An understanding of what makes content work - you can talk about voice, audience, platform fit, and why certain posts perform better than othersExperience coordinating or contributing to marketing campaigns, events, or content programs - even if at a student society, volunteer, or internship levelComfort with marketing tools - Canva and/or Adobe Express required; familiarity with HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, or social media scheduling tools is a strong plusA creative, proactive mindset - you spot opportunities to improve content, suggest ideas, and take initiative rather than waiting for a brief
How You WorkStrong Excel or Google Sheets skills, or clear evidence you can learn quicklyOrganised, reliable, and detail-oriented - you keep things on track without being chasedClear oral and written communication and professional presentationComfortable with messy information, changing priorities, and startup paceAutonomous - you make progress without constant direction and follow up properly
Why Join UsWork directly with the founders and a small, high-impact teamLearn how a fast-growing AI/data company operates from the insideGet broad exposure across marketing, operations, reporting, customers, and systemsBuild practical skills quickly in a role that spans multiple functionsReal responsibility and real impact from day oneBe part of an ag-tech startup shaping the future of global food and grain marketsOpportunity to grow into a broader role as the company scales
