Watson Blinds & Awnings – Product Installers – Window Furnishings (awnings, curtains, shutters)
Canberra, Hume (full-time: 7.00 am to 3.30 pm)
We are looking for an experienced installer willing to learn and join our established Product Installation team, working across our range of products: Blinds, Awnings, Curtains, Retractable Roof Systems, Crimsafe & Shutters.
Job Summary:
The Product Installer for Window Furnishings is responsible for the professional installation of window treatment products such as blinds, shades, shutters, and curtains. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong manual skills to ensure accurate, efficient, and quality installation according to company standards. The installer will also provide excellent customer service, addressing client needs, offering product knowledge, and ensuring a clean and orderly installation area upon completion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Installation:
Install various window furnishings in residential and commercial settings, including blinds, shades, shutters, drapery rods, and curtains.
Take accurate measurements to ensure the correct fit of all products.
Adjust and align products for proper operation, appearance, and functionality.
2. Customer Interaction:
Communicate professionally with customers to answer questions and explain product operations and maintenance.
Address any customer concerns or issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.
3. Site Preparation and Cleanup:
Prepare installation sites, including removing old window treatments and cleaning installation surfaces as needed.
Clean the work area and remove any installation debris to maintain a tidy environment.
4. Quality Assurance:
Ensure each installation meets company standards and complies with safety regulations.
Test installed products to confirm they operate smoothly and demonstrate use and maintenance to customers.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
Complete any required documentation or reports after each installation, detailing any issues or follow-up needs.
Track inventory and manage supplies in the installation vehicle.
Requirements:

Experience: Previous experience as a window furnishings installer or in a related field is preferred.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret installation instructions, diagrams, and blueprints. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting heavy products and standing for extended periods.
Customer Service Skills: Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and professional demeanour.
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if driving a company vehicle).
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in carpentry, home renovation, or a similar field.
Knowledge of safety practices and installation best practices for window treatments.
Working Conditions: This position involves frequent travel to customer sites and physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing. Standard work hours are typically from Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends as required by customer schedules.
Whilst a Construction Induction Safety Certificate (White Card, Asbestos & Silica) would be advantageous, we will support you to gain this.
