Harmony Auto is one of Australia's fastest-growing automotive groups, representing leading new energy vehicle brands including BYD and DENZA. As our business continues to expand, we are establishing a new panel and paint operation at our Clayton Vehicle Preparation Centre.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Panel Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation and help build the panel shop from the ground up.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to play a key role in establishing and developing our panel and paint operations.

Reporting to the operations leadership team, you will be responsible for managing workshop operations, building a high-performing team and ensuring vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the panel and paint workshop.

• Build, manage and develop a team of Panel Beaters, Spray Painters and other workshop staff.

• Establish efficient repair workflows, processes and quality standards.

• Allocate and monitor repair jobs to ensure timely completion.

• Monitor productivity, turnaround times, quality and workshop performance.

• Coordinate parts, equipment, suppliers and external service providers.

• Conduct quality checks and ensure repairs meet company and manufacturer standards.

• Manage workshop safety, housekeeping and compliance requirements.

• Monitor work in progress (WIP) and ensure accurate job documentation.

• Work closely with internal teams to coordinate vehicle movement and repair requirements.

• Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, quality and profitability.

• Support the growth and development of the panel shop as the business expands.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience managing a panel shop, body shop or automotive repair workshop.

• Strong knowledge of automotive panel beating and paint repair processes.

• Proven experience leading and developing workshop teams.

• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to manage multiple repair jobs and competing priorities.

• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• A hands-on and proactive approach to workshop management.

• Current Australian Driver Licence.

Highly Regarded

• Experience in a dealership, smash repair or vehicle preparation environment.

• Experience working with EVs or new energy vehicles.

• Experience establishing or developing a new workshop operation.

• Knowledge of insurance repair processes and industry standards.

• Relevant automotive trade qualifications.

• $110,000–$130,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.
