The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers is Australia’s professional association for bookkeepers and BAS agents. We provide education, resources, support and representation that help bookkeepers deliver better outcomes for Australian businesses.

We are looking for an Entry-Level Salesforce Developer to join our Systems team. This is an opportunity to apply your university studies in a practical environment and develop your Salesforce capability while contributing to systems that support our members and national operations.

Reporting to the General Manager, Member Services & Systems, you will work with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and help design, build, test and maintain secure and reliable Salesforce solutions.

What you will do

• Assist with developing and maintaining Salesforce functionality using Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components and declarative tools such as Flow.

• Translate business requirements into practical system improvements, using configuration before custom code where appropriate.

• Support integrations between Salesforce and other business applications using APIs and established integration tools.

• Write, test, document and debug code in accordance with ICB’s development, security and change-management practices.

• Participate in code reviews, sandbox testing, release preparation and controlled production deployments.

• Troubleshoot system issues and contribute to improving Salesforce performance, data quality and user experience.

• Maintain technical documentation, deployment records and source control using Git or similar tools.

As an entry-level developer, you will work within defined development and approval processes. Code and system changes will be reviewed before being deployed into the production environment.

 What you will bring

You must be currently studying towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related discipline.

You will also have:

• Sound programming fundamentals and an understanding of object-oriented development.

• Experience with JavaScript or another object-oriented language such as Java or C#.

• Some practical exposure to Salesforce through Trailhead, university studies, sandbox projects, volunteering or employment.

• An interest in developing skills in Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, Flow and Salesforce APIs.

• An understanding of databases, data structures, testing and software development principles.

• Strong problem-solving skills and careful attention to quality, security and documentation.

• The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

• A collaborative approach and willingness to ask questions, receive feedback and continue learning.

Experience with Git, REST APIs, Salesforce reports and dashboards, or automated testing would be advantageous but is not essential.

Progress towards Salesforce Platform Developer I certification, relevant Trailhead Superbadges or a practical development portfolio will also be highly regarded.
