We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Grocery Manager (Long Life & Ambient) to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of our long-life and ambient grocery departments.

Scope

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the grocery department in the long life and ambient sections, ensuring efficient stock control, supplier coordination, merchandising, budgeting, and compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the grocery department in both long life & ambient sections
• Sourcing and negotiating with wholesalers; managing deliveries, verifying invoices, and handling credit claims for damaged stock.
• Plan end-cap displays, promotional bins, and seasonal marketing campaigns
• Implement policies and supervise strict FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to manage "best before" dates and minimise wastage.
• Ensure team maintain high standards of shelf presentation (items faced, correctly ticketed, and organised according to store layout plans
• Monitor stock levels and minimise overstock/"out-of-stock" issues.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and wastage
• Manage budgets and cost-control measures.
• Recruit, train, roster, and supervise staff
• Foster productive and customer-focused team environment.
• Ensure all aisles are clear of hazards and that the store complies with Victorian OHS and food safety regulations.

Skills & Experience

You will have:

· At least one year of relevant experience.

· Relevant qualification preferred (Diploma or above)

· Proven experience in a supermarket or fine foods environment, specifically within long-life or dry grocery departments.

· Strong ability to manage inventory systems, reduce shrinkage, and optimise stock turnover.

· Excellent team management skills, including the ability to train staff and manage performance in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to create visually appealing displays that align with the "Fine Foods" brand aesthetic.

· Competent in using POS systems, inventory management software, and basic computer applications.

Pay: $78,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
