About the role
Coleman Greig is one of NSW’s leading law firms and has a proud history of supporting businesses, individuals and communities across Greater Sydney.
Our people are at the heart of our business, and we are committed to creating an environment where they can develop, grow and do their best work. Coleman Greig has been certified as a Great Place to Work and recognised across a range of industry awards.
Our Learning & Development function has also received significant industry recognition in 2026, including Finalist – Best Capability Building Program and Runner-Up – Best Blended Learning Solution at the Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) Awards, and Finalist – Best Learning and Development Program in the Australian HR Awards.
The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to join Coleman Greig on a 12-month maximum-term parental leave contract, working part-time.
Reporting to the CEO, you will take ownership of an established, standalone and award-recognised Learning & Development function, with an active portfolio of firmwide development initiatives.
This is a hands-on management role suited to an experienced L&D professional who is comfortable operating autonomously, partnering directly with senior leaders and managing both strategic initiatives and the day-to-day delivery of the firm's learning agenda.
You will work closely with our leadership team, practice groups and other stakeholders to identify capability priorities and deliver practical, engaging and commercially relevant learning solutions.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Lead and manage the firm’s L&D portfolio, ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively, on time and within budget.
Partner with the CEO, leadership team and key stakeholders to identify capability needs, provide L&D advice and develop appropriate learning solutions.
Manage established firmwide development initiatives across areas including leadership development, mentoring, early careers, professional development, onboarding, professional skills and compliance.
Design, develop and deliver engaging learning solutions using a blended approach including workshops, facilitated sessions, digital learning, resources and workplace-based development.
Manage the firm’s LMS, including administration, learning pathways, reporting and the ongoing development and maintenance of digital learning content.
Design and develop high-quality eLearning and digital learning resources, with experience using Articulate Rise highly regarded.
Manage the firm’s induction and onboarding learning program, including digital modules, learning resources, guides and supporting materials.
Support the firm’s performance and development processes, including initiatives designed to build career development capability and support meaningful development conversations.
Manage and coordinate the firm’s early careers learning initiatives and development opportunities.
Coordinate the firm’s CPD learning program, maintain appropriate training records and support lawyers to meet their continuing professional development obligations.
Partner with subject matter experts to develop learning and change support for new systems, processes and ways of working.
Source and manage external facilitators, speakers, training providers and professional bodies, including managing supplier relationships, costs and delivery arrangements.
Build relationships across the broader legal and professional services community to identify emerging learning needs, relevant topics and high-quality development opportunities.
Evaluate learning initiatives using participant feedback, stakeholder input and available data, and use insights to continuously improve the firm’s L&D offering.
Maintain effective L&D reporting, records, resources and administration to support the smooth operation of the function.
About you
You will be an experienced L&D professional who can confidently step into an established function, quickly build relationships and independently manage a broad portfolio of work.
Ideally, you will bring:
Substantial experience in Learning & Development, ideally within a law firm, professional services, consulting or other corporate environment.
Demonstrated experience managing an L&D portfolio or function with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong capability in designing and delivering practical, engaging learning solutions across a range of formats including workshops, eLearning and virtual learning.
Experience partnering with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify capability needs, provide advice and translate business priorities into effective development solutions.
Experience designing, implementing and managing leadership, professional skills, career development or broader capability-building programs.
Strong digital learning capability, including experience working with LMS platforms and eLearning authoring tools. Experience with Articulate Rise is highly regarded.
Confidence facilitating workshops, presentations, meetings and development discussions with employees at all levels.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing initiatives and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build highly effective consultative and collaborative relationships.
Strong analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to assess learning needs and monitor the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to work independently while collaborating effectively across the firm.
Experience within the legal sector and an understanding of CPD requirements would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why Coleman Greig?
This 12-month maximum-term parental leave contract offers the opportunity to step into an established L&D function, take ownership of a broad portfolio of development initiatives and continue the momentum of work already underway across the firm.
At Coleman Greig, you can expect:
Flexible working, including our 60/40 office and home working model.
A supportive and collaborative leadership team.
The opportunity to work closely with senior decision-makers across the firm.
An active workplace culture with firm events, wellbeing initiatives and community programs.
If you are an experienced L&D professional looking for a varied, hands-on role within a collaborative professional services environment, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application through SEEK, including a covering letter outlining your experience and interest in the position together with your resume.
